International Airport and Maqta Bridge

“This agreement has been entered into on 2nd December 1965 corresponding to 8th Shaaban 1385 A.H. between His Highness Sheikh Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan Ruler of Abu Dhabi and Mr. Raymond Frigon representating Cansult Ltd., Ottawa, Canada referred is in respect of:
1. a) The construction of a International Airport, in Abu Dhabi with all its ancillary buildings
b) The construction of a bridge over the creek between Abu Dhabi Island and the mainland.
Arabic wording of (b): Complete construction of Al-Maqta’ Bridge.
The completion of the airport and the Maqta bridge accelerated the population growth from neighbour cities. The Maqtaa Bridge was part of Abu Dhabi’s first road linking the downtown to the mainland
