Traditional Houses in Baghdad

John Warren and Ihsan Fethi jointly written this book with preface done by famous local architect in Baghdad, Rifat Chadirji.

It is a well research piece with photos and drawings that help understanding traditional houses in Baghdad easily. The explanation of the houses was done carefully by started introducing the history of the city, which then transited to the evolution of colonnaded house. The writers clearly listed out the underlying principles in building these houses, with social process and climatic condition. The research continued into the actual construction process and the actual life in these houses.

To deal with the linguistic barrier, there was a nicely made glossary list for which understanding local terms would become much easier.
