9780195125016A Time for War: The United States and Vietnam, 1941-1975 is a book by Robert D. Schulziger on the history of the three-decade-long war in Vietnam based on primary sources and documentary evidenced. His comprehensive narrative incorporates different aspects of the war, from the military to the economic and to the political. In the chapter “‘Good Intentions, a Clear Conscience, and to Hell with Everybody’: May 1954-December 1960”, he argued that Ngo Dinh Diem paid great effort in consolidating his own political power through resettlement, but was unable to receive as much support as anticipated.
