Murphy, George Gregory S.
Berkeley: University of California Press, 1966.

Written in 1966, this book is an analysis on the Soviet-Mongolian relationship from 1921-1960. The first part was a historical account of the Soviet invasion from 1921-1924, followed by the immediate social, political and economic impacts on the country, and the beginning of the Mongolian People’s Republic. The second part was focused on the 1924-1940 period, when the Soviets established power in the Mongolian territory through extreme campaigns, including the anti-clerical campaign by Choibalsan. The final part was a review on the Five-year plans starting in 1948, up till 1960. Analyses were conducted on the economic performance, with the support of documents such as budget of the Five-year plans, import and export accounts, and livestock accounts.
