The photos captured the everyday scenes in the Sukhbaatar Square and the nearby Peace Avenue. People and vehicles were featured in the shots, providing reference of human scale against the gigantic Square and boulevard, and revealing the activities and atmosphere in the area. The presence of automobile and people’s attire suggested the rapid modernization taking place in the city centre in the 1950s.’
