The photos captured the scenes of military parades and student marches in the 1st May celebrations and October Revolution commemoration activities. In the 1940s, before the construction of the Government Building and the mausoleum, the Sukhbaatar Statue was the centre of the celebrations. In the 1960s, the Mausoleum, was used as a political stage for communist leaders to stand on, and for people to salute and cheer to during the celebration. The vast open space in the Sukhbaatar Square accommodated huge crowds to participate in the event.
