Many kampong area in Jakarta is mostly using underwater (private or public well) as their water source. However, the use of underwater would eventually led to land subsidence. The figure shows that the Jakarta’s land is sinking more rapidly in time and more area of the city is sinking. In order to prevent land subsidence, it is crucial to use piped water system, while Jakarta is still lack of such infrastructural system to supply water to many kampong households. Land subsidence made the city even more vulnerable to chronical flood, and the living condition in kamponggets worse due to flood.
