Macau/ 2012 Hengqin’s Underground “Artery”

The 33.4-kilometer comprehensive utility tunnel under the Hengqin New Area.It is one of the largest in the country, the tunnel houses electricity and telecommunications cables, and pipes for water supply, reclaimed water, air cooling and vacuum garbage transport. The investment cost of the tunnel is as high as 2 billion rmb.
As shown from the photos, the tunnel not only has the ability to house utility pipes, it also exhibits potential for human traversing.
