3V Approach Implementation on Jakarta
Node Value distinguishes each station into transfer and single stations, which could be seen from the network map. Transport Stations play the most critical nodes in the network system. However, node value highlights other attributes that influence the significance of each station perception. Manggarai Station, Jatinegara, and Tanah Abang station are the example of Transfer Stations which possess daily high node value. However, Stations like Sudirman, Cawanhg, and Tebet embody more central node in comparison to Duri and Jakarta Kota Station, one of the reasons are the additional attributes including ridership and intermodal diversity improve the station value as part of a transit network. The development of Major Stations should be less intensive but must have diverse attractive destinations, and a combination of the land uses.
For future development, if the major station could receive a significant transit service improvement, it could be enhance to a highly connective station. Single stations could be implemented to a moderate neighborhood-type development due to their least significant value. There is a lack of intermodal connectivity in my stations, seen from the single station’s predominancy in the network. This condition results in a daily low ridership level, despite being located in a dense population district.
The urban area demonstrates stations with moderate quality of the diverse and walkable environment. By solving some connectivity issues, these stations could be improved into better urban spaces. For example, an adequate mixed of uses but impoverished walkshed nation and street intersection sub-indexes density at Sudirman and Tanah Abang Station could be tackled by addressing the loose pedestrian network and pots which do not provide semi-public access.
Kampung Bandan Station is the only station which falls under the suburban typology due to its disconnection from its surrounding, which creates a low intersection density and land-use diversity. Industrial buildings and large empty plot around Kampung Bandhan contributes to this low place value score.
Mangga Besar, Pondok Jati, and Gang Sentiong are categorised into intense urban stations. Dense Low-rise settlements with amenities and commercial activities along the major streets are surrounding these stations. They have characteristics as a vibrant and walkable metropolitan area. However, the challenge lies on how to develop the area into a dense and compact development since the current condition is dense enough but lack of land-intensive.
The result indicates different aspects that influence the developments, including Transit as the dominant factor, while Commuter Line scores lower. Hence, there lay some stations with high market value with low node value scores. Implementations of feeder services could enhance connectivity. Within the network, stations with high market and node values are immediate potential for TOD; they play a significant role in transit capacity and development potential. For a better development strategy, exiting built-parcel data is needed to execute the most efficient planning.
