Dukuh Atas MRT System Development

 

The Master Plan and Urban Design Guidelines include the vision and principles framework to implement the new infrastructure, improvement of the public realm and other developments that support the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT).
MRT Jakarta consists of two lines system, expand from North to South with 23 kilometers long, connecting Kampung Bandhan, which located in the North of Jakarta to Lebak Bulus in the Southside. The connection line system for the East side to the West is still under the planning phase.
Addressing seven-station areas along the vertical line, the objective go this Master Plan and Urban Design Guidelines are mainly to align the government vision with the stakeholders’ interest, including physical planning throughout the development policy, programming, phasing, and implementations. Other objectives are to provide the preliminary design framework to integrate the TOD with the new buildings and infrastructure design, and also to define the transportation that relates to infrastructure projects’ scope and priority.

One of the most strategic areas to be focused on in this narrative is the Dukuh Atas TOD project.
Dukuh Atas has a 118.9 ha total area, with an 800m project boundary (around 10-minute walking distance) in each direction of the MRT Station of

Dukuh Atas MRT Station (cite). Dukuh Atas area is extremely well-complemented with the transit of five different stations, including MRT, Sudirman Rail Station, Airport Link, BRT, and the future LRT, in which every station located nearby each other. The existing development of the Dukuh Atas TOD Project includes a wide variety and quality of relative growth with low-density, including hotels, apartments, shophouses, kampongs, commercial office towers, detached housing, and a retail mall.

The MRT TOD Master Plan and Design Guidelines are prepared baby SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP) in collaboration with PDW Architects, and directly appointed by PT MRT Jakarta.

This Master Plan will invest in Public Realm experience, which includes building the civic spaces by creating the high quality of open urban areas and a sense of arrival to the Airport Link Stations and MRT. This Civic space involves high quality of the landscape, public art, circulation, and seating. Other Public Realm experiences include a New Open Space, Create Shade, Stormwater Management System, and also Great Streets Design.
