Seoul: Yeouido’s landmark 63 Building

Along the Han River, the large island Yeouido is located in western Seoul. This area is dotted with skyscrapers and well collaborated with residential and commercial area. It is a headquarter of investment and broadcasting district.

Built by Hanwha company, 63 building is located in center of Yeouido. It is an iconic building with shiny gold façade that have observatory deck, art gallery aquarium and banquet hall. I was opened in 1980 February, and renovated in 1985. The building was called Hanwha city tower in the first place but in 20th century, building a skyscraper larger then 50 storey high was a sensational news so the Hanwha company changed the name into 63 tower, since the building is 63 storey high. Therefore people easily remembered the name of the building and admitting it as a landmark in Seoul. 63 Building is well known as their slogan ‘Love your life, Lover your dream’. Th building can hold earthquake no.7 as well as typhoon so the building can bear from huge natural disasters. Recently, new technology has inserted so the building can immediately distinguish unexpected vehicles.

Not only these tourist places but also shopping mall is built in the center of the buildings with great advantages of Han River view. For shoppers, people can check out the IFC Mall which features an array of global and local brands. In the same complex as the International Financial Center is the luxurious Conrad Hotel which, even they do not stay there as a guest, has some great dining and drinking options on the higher floors for some great views of the city. Though not on Yeouido itself, shoppers can also check out the Time Square Mall in nearby Yeongdeungpo which holds shops, restaurants, and even theater.
